Indoor Air Quality Solutions for a Happy Home
Most people don’t give much thought to their indoor air quality. You might have heard that indoor air quality is often worse than the air quality outdoors, even in a big city, which is saying something. You, of course, want your family to breathe the best air possible. That’s why we’ve compiled a few solutions to improve indoor air quality and keep a happy home.
Bring Nature Indoors
There are numerous benefits to keeping houseplants inside of your home. These beautiful plants are built to clean the air. They remove the carbon dioxide from the home and replace it with clean oxygen.
When you bring in houseplants, you’re adding to your home environment in a way that filters the air, creates fresh oxygen, and beautifies your home.
Turn on Your Furnace Blower
If you want your indoor air quality at optimal levels year-round, then turn on the furnace blower. The blower will recirculate air into the home through the intake and back out the air supply ducts. If your system has a filter system equipped with UV lights, the UV rays will kill off any bacteria or mold spores and release 90% cleaner air overall. You’ll notice a dramatic improvement in your indoor air quality.
Clean Air Filters Regularly
Your HVAC system’s air filter is the first line of defense against poor indoor air quality. On average, a central heating and cooling system will circulate around 1,000 cubic feet of air per minute through the filter. If it is dirty, all those airborne particulates, including dust and mold spores, are pushed into the system and spread throughout your home. A clean filter, however, will stop these contaminants in their tracks.
